The Course
On this course we develop practical techniques to represent the landscape using oil paint, objectively process what we see,and learn a little about landscape painters past and contemporary. We’ll look at how we might choose subject matter and composition, as well as gathering source material (sketchbook use and photography). We’ll work on tone, colour
mixing and mark-making, finding a path between strict observation and expression/movement.

As well as demonstrating a painting, Hester will talk to each student about their own needs
and aims to help develop each individual’s practice.
